Momagement is the term I’ve coined to describe what being a mom entails these days. What we do is just like corporate world management – except much, much harder.
I mean really, who in their right mind would take on a career with unreasonable hours, shoddy benefits, insubordinate employees, and six-figure-salary stress with a pro-bono salary?
Moms, that’s who.
We raise a kid or two or three. We work at jobs full time, part-time, some time. We have spouses and aging parents. PTA commitments and school activities. Bills to pay, mouths to feed, homes to run.
I have never done anything so difficult in my entire life. Never had so many doubts about my job performance. Sometimes I worry that HR will clue in and realize I am waaaay underqualified for this job. Fortunately, it would be REALLY difficult to fire me.
So. I called this blog Momagement Matters because I think our chosen field of momagement should be treated with respect. What we do matters. It’s important. It may not feel that way when we’re doing the 6th load of laundry or mediating an argument over a My Little Pony. But it is. And it’s so important to remember that on days when we feel woefully underappreciated.
On this blog I write about many aspects of momagement: challenges with raising my kids, balancing career and mom life, fun stuff I do with my girls like crafts, baking, and parties. And there’s a good dose of posts that focus on parenting self-doubt, coping with the death of a parent, and spirituality. You know, light-hearted stuff.
Here are a few posts that I think really highlight what my blog is all about. Welcome, and happy reading!
