about me

Hi. I’m JD. I’m a mom and I’ve got two little girls. On this blog I call them Lizzie or Bug – 5 years old – and Sophia or Boo – 2.5 years old. They endlessly surprise me and frustrate me and entertain me. I can’t believe how HARD parenting is. Stupid and naive of me, yes, but there it is. And yes, I love it. Except when I don’t.

My husband, as I oh-so-cleverly refer to as Hubs – is Awesome. Capital ‘A’ Awesome. Seriously. I’d be toast without him. Boring, plain, stale, stupid toast. He supports my blog but doesn’t like to be written about. So I don’t mention him a lot even though I’d love to go on and on about how great he is. Which I guess wouldn’t be thrilling for you to read.

I am a copywriter by profession, but don’t look for perfect grammar and all that on my blog. It’s a blog, people. I love what I do and consequently have lots of guilt about family-work balance.

I live in the Boston Metrowest area. As I discover cool things to do around here, I’ll let ya’ll know about them. Especially things to do during crummy New England weather months. You know, like 3/4 of the calendar year.

I love cooking. So when I find 20 minutes to make some adult food, I’ll gleefully blog about the results. I am not great at baking but love to decorate cakes and cupcakes with my girlies – we take lots of pics.

I love wine. (Did I mention that I have kids?)

I adore gardening and you’ll get to read about that, too. Especially since I am getting all motivated and starting a garden from seed in 2011.

I like to share stuff that makes my life easier with my friends. Cooking gadgets, kid stuff, bright shiny things that distract my girls mid-tantrum. So I plan to create a page of my favorite things when I find some time.

So that’s it: Me. On a blog. Thanks for stopping by. Happy reading.

YAY!! Thanks for making the magic box! I look forward to be a frequent visitor and devoted reader, without being all stalkerish about it. I have to say, usually when I ask anyone to do anything (pick up your shoes, you have walked by the books on the stairs 4 times…could you maybe carry them up on the next trip, can you please use your napkin instead of your socks, brush your teeth, for God’s sake put on some clothes, do you know why there is a Wii remote in the bathroom, could you listen to the weird noise my car is making, could you attend to my magic box), really anything, I have to wait forever, do it myself, or get loud about it. Thank you for doing what no one else in my life seems capable of….fulfilling a simple request!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Yet another excellent reason to like you….
    Take care,
    Casey
